U.S. GOOS Steering Committee — The key advisory body for U.S. GOOS from 1998 through 2006. This committee was disbanded in 2007, but the web site contains much background information.
Ocean US Office — The national office for sustained ocean observations. It closed in 2008 but the web site contains much useful background information.
The Pew Oceans Commission — In January 2003 this Commission issued the first comprehensive review of U.S. ocean policy in 34 years.
The United States Commission on Ocean Policy — In December 2004 the Commission expired and maintenance of the web site ceased, but this remains an important archive of the works of the Commission including its final report.
The 2004 U.S. Ocean Action Plan — issued by President Bush in response to the Ocean Policy Commission's report.
NOAA Integrated Ocean Observing System — NOAA's IOOS Program established in 2007.
Committee on Ocean Policy — The Council on Environmental Quality formed the Committee on Ocean Policy in 2008 to assist the President with executing the U.S. Ocean Action Plan.
National Federation of Regional Associations — The organization that coordinates activities among Regional Associations governing regional coastal ocean observing systems and represents them to federal agencies.
