FYI the NSF publication Fostering Learning in the Networked World: The Cyberlearning Opportunity and Challenge (A 21st Century Agenda for the NSF) is now available (release date June, 2008). Those engaged in online education might find it useful.

I'm not sure the parameters of resources we're considering, but here are some of the ones I use consistently with K-12 classrooms and educators:

Okay, so maybe I'm a little hooked on this concept (and knowing me, by the time I actually *learn* how to make one, it will be passe), but I am still STRONGLY in support of GCOOS widgets that users can download on their desktops to visualize and display real-time data from the GCOOS data stream. I'm thinking we could start simple (e.g., SST) and work our way up from there.
I've been in touch with a company in Europe that develops widgets, but so much of it is open source that I'm almost willing to bet I could post a request on a widget forum and hook someone's interest. Just my two cents...feel free to call me a nerd! ![]() |
